Overview of Acquisition Life Cycle

This week we are going to look at the process of building an acquisition team. Understanding the context of the issues necessary to solve a company’s needs is just as important if not more than the content, especially when considering who you will ask to be on your acquisition team.

In my experience many managers focus on the content around the HIT acquisition with much less regard for the context in which the HIT solution will be deployed. Managers make sure to have a range of skills, expertise and background knowledge in their team members about components of the existing system, the updating or new system and how these will integrate or not. Where I have experienced shortcomings has been around understanding how these attributes can be brought together when different departments, wards, or even businesses have different cultures, work flows and perceptions on how to get to the end result.

This week #2 topic I would like you to write on:

 

Have you been involved in or observed an organization that has selected people for the team who are in harmony with the proposal or have they included people who may not agree with the group? Answer should be yes and answer the question and elaborate How did the team deal with dissension?
